SIMPLICITY CARRIED TO AN EXTREME BECOMES ELEGANCE.

EXHIBITION: DISARMED
OBJECTIVE
The purpose of this project was to develop a visual system for a chosen exhibition and create design materials to showcase and support the beautiful artworks of the artist. The exhibition should benefit from elevated design and extended promotional materials. My choice was Julie Grantz‘s Disarmed exhibition. It was held at the Triton Museum of Art (Santa Clara, CA) on August 26–December 30, 2023.
CONCEPT
The project began with a visit to the exhibition site, where I photographed the artworks, descriptions, and the overall environment. After gathering all the necessary information and analyzing it, a creative brief was developed, paving the way for the design process. The artist’s stunning charcoal works, rich in detail and realism, are deeply personal and intimate, which influenced the design approach. The design needed to be minimalist, avoiding clutter while highlighting the beauty of the drawings. The goal was to capture the artwork’s intimacy through delicate lines, subtle graphic elements, and thoughtfully chosen typography—supporting, rather than overpowering, the pieces themselves.
